Marc Jacobs' patent ruffle front stiletto courts - the start of the ruffle trend?

I'm starting to notice a slightly worrying trend coming into the F/W 07 footwear collections - ruffles. Miu Miu have used them to rather alarming effect throughout their latest collection, and now Marc Jacobs is in on the act, too, with these French Pumps in black patent leather , featuring a quirky little ruffle on the vamp. I actually like these a lot more than I liked the Miu Miu versions, and I think they're very aptly named - I can imagine ladies of old wearing something a little like these at the court of Versailles, although perhaps not in black patent leather.
