Shoe Express celebrates 500th birthday of the high heel!
Trends may come and go, but some things never change, and one of the longest-running stars in the world of shoe fashion is the high heel! Although the exact date can't quite be determined, Shoe Express in Oxford Street have taken it upon themselves to mark the 500th birthday of the high heel by producing a daring 12-inch heel! (Following in Vivienne Westwood's footsteps (pictured), perhaps?) Given that Westwood's stilt-inspired shoes famously got the better of Naomi Campbell back in 1993, I take my hat off to the model - Jessica Proudfoot (proud feet, indeed!) - who managed to wear the 12-inch killers for ten minutes straight! So, let us raise our glasses not only to her, but to those wonderful high heels that give us longer-looking limbs, slimmer calves and add the perfect dash of glamour to our days. To the high heel!
