" A foot file for £25?" I hear you say. "What new madness is this?" I know, I know - and a few short weeks ago I was right there with you. Why spend £25 on a foot file, after all, when £25 will buy you a pair of New Look's finest shoes? Well yes: but if the shoes in question are strappy sandals and the feet that'll be wearing them are... not quite up to scratch, let's say...you could find yourself wishing you'd bought the foot file instead. Trust me on this one.
Unkempt feet, you see, are one of the summer's biggest fashion crime as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't matter how fabulous your shoes are, if your feet are covered in (and I hope none of you are eating while you read this. Apologies if you are.) corns, callouses and other foot-nasties, you may as well not bother wearing them. Which is why a good foot file is worth its weight in gold. Or worth £25 at least.
The Microplane foot file, you see, is made by the same people who make household tools like hacksaws, rasps and - wait for it - graters. You can probably see where I'm going with this, can't you?
Fear not, though: this little gizmo won't hurt your feet - in fact, having used it, I can say that it's much gentler than any of the cheaper files I've tried (and trust me, I've tried a lot), while at the same time very, very tough on that hard skin around the heels and toes that is the enemy of the strappy sandal. In fact, it took me just a few minutes to get my feet back to something that looked less like they belonged on a Hobbit, and more like something I'm not ashamed to show in public.
