Topshop's plastic high heel shoes - just pop them in the washing machine if they get dirty!

plastic-heels.jpg

Now, I haven't seen these shoes in the flesh, so to speak (maybe "in the plastic" would be more appropriate here?), so I may be way off beam with this, but the fact that Topshop are proudly calling them"plastic high heels" plus the fact that they're apparently machine washable, makes me think that these aren't the leather-look plastic we're used to seeing on shoes, but are, in fact... plastic-look plastic. The picture certainly seems to support that theory - they look a bit like the kind of thick plastic you find on jelly shoes and the like, only in high heel form. Well, they'll certainly come in handy in all this rain we've been having this summer, but what do you think about plastic high heels? Would you pay £50 for them, which is what Topshop are asking?

Thou the idea is tempting, I dont think plastic shoes will ever really take over. somehow it doesnt give off a very comfortable look, plus plastic isnt too posh..ugh,Id never be caught dead in these.

Ick, ick, double ick! If you're going to spend that much money on shoes, make them leather and actually take care of them. A woman wearing plastic heels might as well be wearing Crocs. Yeah, I went there.

Eeuwwwww!
They look like dressing-up box shoes or even worse adult size Barbie/Sindy doll shoes!!!!
Horrendous idea and will never take on in countries with any humidity - at least I sincerely hope not......
You could buy 5 pairs of cheapie but better looking shoes for that price and when they are dirty throw them away and wear the next pair!!

Actually, those are inspired (or might be the original) by Melissa. Melissa is a Brazilian designer brand that only makes plastic shoes. They're actually really comfortable (the insoles are made of soft comfy leather) and totally durable. Not to mention they look great on! I have several Melissas in my closet and always get stopped in the street by people saying how cute they are. So.. get with it! :)
