Are you a flats girl, or do you prefer skyscraper heels at heart?

Lucy Hulme asks...

Aside from the obvious practicalities of sometimes wearing flats (i.e. if you have a one and a half mile walk home) or heels (i.e. if you're going on a date with someone who is 6 ft 7" tall), most of the shoe lovers I know have a clear preference between the two.

Personally, I'm without a doubt a heels girl. Flats are great for many things and can often be incredibly comfortable, but there's nothing like the feeling of slipping on a gorgeous LBD and hiking up your height by three or four inches, to really feel ready to go out and enjoy yourself. Sadly I've yet to find the holy grail, but I live in hope that one day I will find myself a luxuriously comfortable pair of stiletto heels.

Which do you prefer?

heels all the way! i can quite happily wear 5 inch stilettos walking all day then change into another pair of heels for a night out!! then again i have been wearing them since i was 13, my feet are just well trained now!

  • I'd love to love heels, unfortunately I have terrible, terrible feet and am unable to wear anything higher than half an inch and thats only if it has a wide base. I would KILL to be able to wear heels. Seriously if there was a way to suck the heel wearing ability out of another human I would.

Heeeeeeeeeeels! I wear flats, but I never feel as sexy in them as I do in heels.

Heels, for everything, higher the better! I can barely walk in flats actually, my feet just don't like them.

Flats, flats, flats. Perhaps it's because my daily commute *is* a mile, and public transit in the suburbs of the US is worthless, or maybe it's because at 5'8" I'm already half a foot taller than most of the girls at my office, but the shoes I drool over tend to be flats, like the gorgeous purple snake-embossed pair from Nordstrom that will be mine.

I can walk in heels if I must, and for a lot of the past year and a half I did, but I came back to the more comfortable flats - which have more stylish options than ever.
