Labour Day - The first Monday in September that marks the end of Summer in the USA and culminates in the millions-strong West Indian Carnival in Brooklyn. It's also behind one of the ultimate fashion no-no’s; No white shoes after Labour Day! Many reasons have been given as to why this style rule exists, from white not being considered an autumnal colour to it being just plain bad manners but I say...rules are meant to be broken. Talk about white shoes after Labor Day always reminds me of the US version of 'What Not to Wear'. In the intro, the camera pans across a street sign that says something along the lines of 'White Shoes Okay After Labor Day', advice which I take to heart.
