Ugly Shoe of the Week

zashikilti1.jpgOh, Chie. You just make this column a little too easy, don't you! I know your footwear is well known for its comfort factor, but it baffles me that to make a comfortable shoe, you have to sacrifice style and beauty. It's my understanding that Louboutin's heels are some of the most comfortable on earth, but you don't see ol' Christian making seriously ugly shoes (well, not often, anyway). I guess there'll be some lovely ladies who fancy a pair of pilgrim-styled, heeled moccasins out there; and who might be able to make something of these, but really? I suggest it's back to the drawing board for you! So, what will this ugliness cost? A square $345 from ShopBop.

They are not ugly at all! They are quite nice actually.

Sorry, her shoes are KNOWN as very comfortable, but I bought a lovely pair two weeks ago and I wore them once. Why just once, if they are that lovely?
I still have the wounds - really wounds, with blood and so on (sounds disgusting, but it's the truth) it produced up to now. I even took photos and I guess I must send them to Chie Mihara. Maybe she can go on working a bit more on comfort to keep on improving her shoes. I really love her design.

I really like these and Chie's shoes in general

I love these! I could swear that I saw them at Anthropologie, as well.. anyhow, the pair of Chie's shoes that I have are extremely comfortable, but they only have a two inch heel.

OMG!!! Are you kidding me, what will you wear them with a LBD or my fathers double breasted suit from the sixties!
I think they UUUUUUUGLY but they could have done a lot worse.

Wha? I think these are gorgeous! Still considering buying them.

I actually like these (then again, I'm a costume designer so...I tend to have real wonky taste anyways). I think they'd look super cute with a seventies style women's suit (like a cranberry suede straight skirt with a vest and a plain white button up underneath? Heck yes!

I can't believe the majority of responses like these. They look like something you'd wear to an Amish fancy dress party. And even then i dont think id be prepared to pay more than $2.15 for them.
