Steve Madden does it again with these Christian Louboutin-style patent booties

Oh, Steve Madden, have you no sense of shame! As our US site, Shiny Style, points out, the red heel is a dead giveaway on the Louboutin version of this boot, but it's just about the only thing that sets it apart from Steve Madden's almost-identical design! The Louboutins are the 'Miss Fred Taco Boots', and are $695 at Saks, while Madden has called his boots 'Becks' and is charging $149.95 for them. Do you think you could tell the difference, though, if it wasn't for that red heel?

geez it's getting appalling! i mean, i fall into the category of girls-who-love-shoes-but-cant-always-afford-designer-style, but we deserve not to have our intelligence insulted by the high street stores in this way. can't they at least exhibit some originality and take a designer styles just as inspiration and create their own version of the shoe? seriously people!

I really have no problem with designers copying designs (probably because I'm not a designer, I'm just a girl with no money who loves shoes, so I benefit from it all) but I really hate what steve madden has been doing.

They did the same thing with the booties "Chap" (the black/white booties). They just grabbed Louboutin's photo, changed the sole colour and posted it for pre-order. But after a while, they just disappeared from the site, then they reappeared (looking horrible) and then they made yet another appearance, looking similar but not exactly the same.

I just wonder what happened to the people who actually preordered the shoe before it went through so many changes.

It's just annoying, Steve Madden should wait until they actually have a design to post photos, instead of grabbing someone else's photos in hopes that their (madden's) design will turn out the same.

    Bleh.

That explains why I find them so sexy.

  • I'm glad you two agree that that's the same photo, because I was shocked. Seriously, what on earth are they thinking? Even if (EVEN IF) the shoes are, say, actually the same design and the Steve Maddens are just rebranded for a different market than the Louboutins (which I don't believe, but what do I know about shoe manufacturing and marketing? I just know "ooh, pretty!"), you'd really think they'd spring for a different photo shoot just to disguise the sameness. As it is, even the shadow of the lace on the patent is identical! How very strange and offputting.

  • Yep, definitely worse. Copying someone else's photo and photoshopping it up to sell your own product is even more shameful.
