The driers contain silica gel, and are battery powered: the idea is that you slide them inside your shoes, switch them on and let them run. Once all the moisture has been absorbed from your shoe, the indicator window turns from pink to blue, and you're good to go. If you've ever ruined your favourite shoes by walking through the rain in them unexpectedly, or are just a frequent gym goer, this could be a better idea than stuffing your shoes with newspaper and hoping for the best - which makes it even more disappointing that it's currently available only in Japan.
