Now, the name 'Jonathan Walford' may not be a name bandied about with those of lust-worthy-shoe designers, but as founding curator of the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, I say that we owe him our respect. Featuring not one, not two, but FOUR centuries of fashionable footwear, the book explores how major historical events, social change and industrialisation have influenced the style and production of footwear.
