Sock boots: the shape of shoes to come?

sock-boots.jpgLast week Vogue asked the question, "Are sock boots the latest trend?" They were referring to hosiery brand FALKE's collaboration with Hussein Chalayan to create boots like the ones shown here for the designer's Paris catwalk show. Of course, boots with sock-like attachments aren't exactly a new idea, but these ones take the concept to the limit, looking exactly like a sock with a high heel attached to it.

How would you answer Vogue's question? Are sock boots the latest trend, and if so, will you be wearing them?

I don't think so, Vogue. They look more silly than trendy IMO.

When they're all one color like this, I like them. I like the sleek shape of the foot. When it's made to look like a sock in a shoe, it looks silly.

I live in coastal British Columbia, and these shoes are simply not practical with our wet weather. I could see them being popular in the Fall, but more as a passing fancy versus a real, lasting footwear trend.

I, for some reason I do not understand, like these! I haven't liked similar pairs I've seen previously, but I do like these. And I just want to say that it's cool that another person from the BC coast reads this, lol.

Perhaps the shoe design underneath didn't go with the clothes so they hastily covered it up with an old sock someone had lying around backstage?
