Zinc's 'Maria' pumps - basket cases for your feet

basket-weave-shoes.jpgIf your heart just jumped into your mouth at the sight of these shoes and you thought, "I must have them! Tell me where to get them!" then I'm sorry to dissapoint- the shoes are Zinc's 'Maria' pumps, and they're currently sold out at Heels.com. Despite their lack of availability, though, I still had to show you them, because this has to be one of the strangest shoes I've seen so far this year. Made from woven raffia, and looking a lot like shoe-shaped baskets, I'm curious to know what everyone thinks of them. Would you wear "basket" shoes?

All I can think about is how bad they would chafe my toes... And how I'd be walking like Frankenstien's monster.

I clutched my pearls to stop my heart jumping out of my mouth. The prospect of knarly and unsightly blood blisters was too much for this shoe despot! Raffia is best left for cheap hand made trinkets you buy Great Aunt Rose, not the upper of a shoe.

They would make your feet look like those cheap bottles of chianti that used to be served in baskets in low rent italian restaurants. Not least because of the red liquid that would undoubtedly be pouring from your feet after 10 minutes' wear.........
