Bright shoes at the Met Costume Institute Gala - what did you think of Katie Holmes' and Diane Kruger's shoes?

I know bright shoes are hard to avoid right now, but I somehow don't think Katie Holmes got the look quite right at Monday's Costume Institute Gala, wearing electric blue stilettos with this shiny red dress. Of course, bright, pointy stilettos tend to give any outfit something of an 80s vibe, so perhaps Diane Kruger's look, with pink peep toes and a silver dress looked a little less dated.

What do you make of the current trend for eye-popping colours? Would you wear them like Diane or Katie? Would you wear them at all?
