Totally strapless sandals - no tan lines, but no shoes either

strapless-sandals.jpgIf you really love your shoes, then I'm guessing the last thing you'd want to buy would be a shoe that makes you look like you're not actually wearing any, but if that sounds like a good idea to you, check out these strapless sandals. At first I assumed that these must have clear straps to keep them on your feet, but no - they actually use some kind of "foot adhesive" to keep what is essentially just a sole stuck to your feet. The manufacturers point out that this will make them the ideal footwear for those who don't want tan lines from their straps, and I can't argue with that, but would you actually wear them?

one of my friends had these last summer and they worked for half a day before the left one kept being left behind!

These are stupid (and ugly) and I don't see how anybody would think they'd be suitable for wearing anywhere but a place you were simply going to go lay out and get a tan, which is bad for you anyhow.

I can just imagine how sandy these would get.

This isn't a new idea. I have a book about shoes that shows a pair of high heels that have had some kind of gum applied to the insole, which keeps the shoe "glued" to your foot. I wish I could remember the name of the designer! I will look it up when I get home and post it. :)

Besides that though, No, I wouldn't wear these! Who wants sticky feet, anyways?? ;)

The main reason people wear shoes is to protect their feet right? Just what exactly are these hideous things protecting?

To be fair, Fashionme, flip-flops such as havaianas don't really "protect" your feet a whole lot more than these, do they?

I can see how these might be cool as a conversation piece (!) or for "free spirits" who would rather go barefoot but can't because they live on a dirty, rubbish-laden street rather than by the beach. And I know this is a shoe blog, but living barefoot kind of sounds appealing sometimes!
