Feel good shoes of the summer: our top green and ethical festival footwear picks

festival footwear.jpgIf there's one time in our lives we can all afford to look like hippies, it's surely when we're kicking back at festivals. I've picked out some of the best, eco-friendly and natural shoes that both capture the festival sprit, and are practical enough to protect your feet from the elements as you head 'back to nature' for those magical few days...

1. Hunter WaterAid wellies
Only available to a 'select few' at Glastonbury, a limited run of these boots will go on sale through the Hunter website in July. Be prepared to fight for a pair of your own, but Hunter have also brought out a specially designed 'festival boot' that comes in a range of lovely colours.

2. Unisex sneakers by Hemp Icon
This lovable, chunky take on the classic Converse basketball shoe is a real favourite of mine, and looks great on guys and girls alike! As the name suggests, the uppers of these vegan sneakers are made from eco-friendly hemp, and the hard-wearing, natural rubber soles will keep your feet well protected from any festival debris. They're available in a range of cool colours at at reduced price of £31.96 (was £39.95) from Natural Collection.

3. Where shoes multi-strap sandals
The sun's bound to come out at least once, isn't it? When it does, you'd be stranded without sandals, so why not pack these cheery, hippy-friendly sandals by new fairtrade label Where shoes? Appropriately enough, they're called 'Frolic', and they're available exclusively from Topshop at £45. Their handmade sandals are produced with eco-friendly, sustainable materials whenever possible using shoemaking traditional methods.

4. El Naturalista Prado green
I love the way El Naturalista have incorporated the leaf pattern into the design of these simple shoes. A bit more robust than your average sandal, I can see them being wearable on rough terrain, and they'd make great dancing shoes, too. Yours for £49.99 on the El Naturalista site.
