Marshalls launch new Shoe Megashop
Shoe. Megashop. The words alone are enough to make a shoe-lover drool, no? The Shoe Megashop in question is something that the US-based Marshalls has just launched in a lot of its stores (for the benefit of our UK readers, Marshalls is a little like TK Maxx, selling name brand clothes, accessories and homeware at discount prices). I went along to one of their locations in Florida during my recent trip to the States, and from the second I opened the doors, I was in shoe heaven...
Of course, Marshalls has always sold shoes. In the past, though, the selection was a little jumbled up - all of the available styles were displayed on racks, in no particular order, and you had to search through them all to find out if there was anything you wanted to try on. Often, the shoes you set your heart on wouldn't appear to be available in your size, although there was always the chance that you'd find a pair filed under another size if you just had the patience to keep searching.
How things have changed. The shoe racks are still there, but the new Shoe Megashop is much more like a regular shoe shop located within the Marshalls store. Each shoe is displayed on a low rack, and when you find a style you like, all you have to do is look underneath the shoe to find all of the available sizes, already boxed and ready to buy.
Brands include Jessica Simpson, Guess and other, instantly-recognisable brands, and there's everything from trainers and flip-flips to dress shoes and other formal styles. They're all arranged by style, too, which makes it much easier to find what you're looking for than it ever used to be. In short, it's a shoe megastore indeed. (And yes, I did buy something - a pair of pewter coloured peep toes by Guess which were only $49.99.)
