Chain of over 10,500 shoes sets Guinness World Record

chain_of_shoes.jpgEver wondered what 10,500 pairs of shoes look like, all laid out in a chain? Evidently someone at National Geographic Kids Magazine did, because they've just set a new world record, collecting over 10,500 pairs of shoes and putting them all out on display in Washington, DC, today. Shoes were donated by celebrities like Cameron Diaz (who guest edited this month's issue of the magazine) and the US Women's National Soccer team, and don't worry, they won't all go to waste - all of the shoes collected will be sent to Nike's 'Reuse a Shoe' programme, which recycles shoes, using them to make surfaces for sports grounds.

Take a look at some of the images of the amazing shoe collection here.
