Handmade shoes: sandals from a yoga mat
Whether you're wanting to embrace your inner hippy, or just feeling the effects of the credit crunch, you can't fail to be impressed by those who make their own shoes.
One of the coolest attempts I've seen is this pair of sandals made out of an old yoga mat that had seen its last sun salutation. Flickr user Sami Sue made them, following this tutorial, with a few of her own alterations. The shoes not only look stylish, but are hard-wearing, too.
