I didn't even know John Lewis made shoes, until I saw this pretty little two-tone court by the partnership's own brand. As you might expect from the store better known for its haberdashery and school uniforms, the shoes are a very classic shape, offering great value for money and quality. Sensible they may be, but there's a playful quality too: I like the girlishness of the thin strap and rounded heel. £55 at John Lewis
