I really like these de-constructed, 'cage' style ankle boots from Lotus, which turn a highly-functional, winter wardrobe staple into a real fashion statement with the straps that cover one side of the shoe. Look at the inside, and they're completely closed, making the boots reasonably weather-proof as long as you take care to avoid puddles! Available in black or electric blue, they are crying out to be worn with contrasting tights.
