It was probably inevitable but the Turkish shoe-maker responsible for crafting the shoe that nearly took out President Bush is cashing in.
According to news reports, the Istanbul-based company is getting swamped with orders. Normally the company sells only 15,000 pairs a year of the style that was hurled at the President earlier this month. Orders originally came in from Iraq, followed by other Middle East countries and finally from the rest of the world, including for 19,000 pairs from the United States.
"Between the day of the incident and 1:00 pm today we have received orders totalling 370,000 pairs", said Serkan Turk, head of sales at Baydan Shoes.
I'd say Christmas has come early then. [via AFP]
