Shoe designers are currently falling over themselves to reinvent the gladiator sandal, and here's Balenciaga's latest attempt. Throwing striped uppers, multicoloured studs and a small platform into the mix, they've fused together an elegant shape and an eyecatching upper to create something that won't appeal to everyone, but which will make a bit of a statement when you wear it. At £855 from Browns, though, the only statement I'd be worried about here would be the one that comes from the bank...
