Thigh high boots from Topshop

TopshopThighHighBoots2.jpgYesterday I brought you stripper shoes, today hooker boots.

But really, if you could manage to wear these and look more Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada then like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, then you deserve a prize.

The 'Britany' Thigh High Boots are £120 from Topshop and are patent leather, with a 4.5 inch heel, and a platform, which I personally think is too much; if you're going to make a shoe that's as OTT as a thigh high boot, I'd keep the add-ons to a minimum.

They also come in black nuback leather, and a rather daring bright blue colour. I don't think I could get away with them - could you?

The two most unimaginative comments about thigh high boots are:

A- Calling them hooker/stripper/call girl shoes

B- Resorting to mention that Julia Roberts abominable film

And, alas, you did both! C'mon people, in order to write a shoe blog (website column, whatever) you should be more creative.

My opinion is: IF YOUR REFERENCE FOR OTK BOOTS IS JULIA ROBERTS OR ANY PROSTITUTE, YOU'RE BOUND TO LOOK CHEAP.

My advice is: try looking for inspiration amongst Fendi, Chanel and Prada looks instead. A wider fashion repertoire does make a substantial difference.

Ifa thigh high boot doesn't have lacing, it's bound not to fit very well.

I don't know, I haven't worn thigh highs since I was a teenager (5 years ago) and even THEN I thought I looked cheap.

  • yum those are gorgeous!!! <3 practical...not so much...
