Meet Shoewawa's new editor!

abi-shoey.jpgHi everybody!

My name is Abi and as of today I'm stepping into the immaculately turned-out shoes of Kelly as your new Editor here at Shoewawa as well as our sister site The Bag Lady.

As a long time shoe addict I've been contributing to the site for a while now, so you may already have seen me gushing about the latest Lanvins and reporting dutifully on my latest bargain finds. But I've not revealed too much about my own persoal loves and hates in the world of footwear until now: this quiz should tell you all you need to know!

Name: Abi Silvester

Contact email: abitheshoelady@googlemail.com

shoe size: 4

Favourite pair of shoes: My Beyond Skin 'Hazel' shoes.

Worst footwear moment: Losing a shoe (the horror!) in the mud at a festival in Leeds. But it gets worse: the shoes were not even mine!

Longest-serving footwear: A boyfriend bought me some platform knee-length platform leather boots in Camden market over 10 years ago, and they're still going strong. Almost certainly so out they're in, I can see me getting good use out of them next season!

I'm a huge fan of Timpsons and have also managed to keep a much-loved pair of Mary Janes for almost five years with a little help from my friend the cobbler.

Favourite shoe labels: Changing all the time, but gotta love Lanvin, Vivienne Westwood, Louboutin, Charlotte Olympia, Minna Parikka, Azzedine Alaia, ChloƩ, Marc Jacobs, Celine and - oh, do you want me to stop now?

Favourite childhood shoe I mostly lived in Start Rite's 'Collette'. Remember those? They were the most sensible shoes ever made, and beloved of middle-class Mums everywhere. I was never allowed Magic Steps, and I think this deprivation may have been what fuelled my footwear obsession later in life! Take note, parents...

Least favourite shoe trends: Sorry to say it, but it has to be Crocs. My standard answer when devotees protest that they are 'so comfortable' is simply to point out that they look it. Meow! But you know it makes sense. Leaving aside the obvious targets, I also don't like very pointy toes (and not only because I can't wear them!)

Biggest footwear gripe: More a body-gripe: my annoyingly wide feet. Or put another way, why oh why are shoes getting narrower?

Favourite high street brands: I've a real fondness for Kurt Geiger and have done well in its sales. More usually Office and my absolute favourite - Sole.

---

Now that's quite enough about me, so I'm going to spread the shoe love by opening questions up to you guys, the true shoe lovers. I've not yet had the chance to get to know many Shoewawa readers intimately, so if you've got a spare 10 minutes, why not introduce yourself by answering the questionnaire yourself?

I promise I won't laugh. Even if you confess to liking Crocs.

    Hi Abby

How do we find out who wins the competitions?

  • so nice to finally put a face to that name.

Hi there - person from F UK? ;-)

Variety is my middle name, so I'm going to be more than happy to feature a few more mid-range, alternative and one-off pieces on the site from now on.

I tend to stick to the higher end stuff on a Monday - mainly because I find it inspiring to look at seriously pretty and desirable things at the start of the week.

Hi Abi, hope you have fun reviewing all the lovely shoes out there...

It'd be quite nice if shoewawa could get someone in occasionally that appreciates different shoes though, like Irregular Choice, Poetic License, instead of the same old boring blah paying for the name shoes all the time. A little variety goes a long way....
