Shoes at New York Fashion Week: Christian Siriano

new-york-fashion-week-shoes.jpgIt's certainly interesting to compare and contrast Christian Siriano's first collection for Payless with the specimens above, which have just been debuted at New York Fashion Week. He's kept to the same basic shapes, but has really run with the exaggerated and distended heel, which is going to be an epic trend in the new year, with each designer outdoing the last to put their own twist on the theme of 'wonky heels'.

I have to say, I love it - especially since each style has been very different, from Rupert Sanderson's Gio Ponti 'fork' heels to Dior's outward-facing horns. These ones, however, are rather more claw-like. They've been used in combination with a more springlike version of the predominant colour palate for A/W: electric blue progresses to a paler and smudgier hue while black leather gives way to neutral tan.
