On the face of it, it seems like one of the most unlikely pairings since peanut butter and jelly: she's a top fashion designer, selling high end goods to high end people. he's a miserablist pop star who's never been known to have an interest in designer gear. But Stella McCartney and Morrissey actually have a lot in common, as both share a passion for animal rights activism and vegetarianism.
McCartney's non-leather and fur-free footwear is already second to none, but she's enlisted Morrissey to work on a brand new collection, which she's said to be very excited about. Critics of her gloomy collaborator have picked him up on his 'hypocritical' wearing in the past of leather and suede shoes - but assuming there's going to be a men's range in the new collections (and it's all speculation at present) then perhaps this could be the start of a new era for the singer, whose inconsistency on the issue highlights the dilemma many veggies face on whether to wear leather shoes in an overwhelmingly leather-led market.
It's early days yet, but the range is expected to hit the shops some time next year. We'll bring you more when we have it!
