The back of a shoe is often neglected by designers, who prefer to focus their detail on the toe and heel. But seeing as a lot of people will only spot your shoes when you walk past, it's worth putting a bit of consideration into it.
Maison Martin Margiela clearly took this concept...and flipped it on its head. Instead of adding a pretty detail, they've left a lip of leather around the heel for a strangely unfinished look.
