Remember the time at the end of the summer holidays when you'd go to stock up on school shoes? This was where many of our shoe obsessions must have begun - between the electronic measuring machine and the boxes of Start Rite sandals, and it is to these glory days that our imaginations occasionally return. In fact, by mid July I was usually already picking out my next term's shoes...

I think that Anna Sui may have a certain nostalgia for those times, too. Her autumn/winter 2010 collection is full of sensible school shoes, dressed up for a more glamorous and shiny autumn term. Her Oxford heels are covered in studs, while her Mary Janes sparkle with their beaded embellishments. As you'd expect from Sui, 'decorative' is the watchword here, and once again we look forward to pulling on those intricately patterned tights.
