The multi-million dollar shoe empire that is Jimmy Choo may be about to change hands, in a potential £500m sale. Tamara Mellon, who has a 17-18 per cent stake in the company, is said to be reaching the final stages of negotiations, and set to pocket an estimated £100m.
The Jimmy Choo story has become the ultimate daydream of many of those just starting out in the industry: the talented small-scale producer being 'discovered' and becoming a household name almost overnight. Now it seems that Mellon will be reaping the rewards of her discovery of Choo, who himself left the company in 2001.
Mellon has so far declined to comment on the rumours, and the possible buyer remains a mystery for now.
