At almost any other memorial service, thigh-length fetish boots, leopard print platforms and skyscraper heels would be considered the height of disrespect, but nobody could argue with the wardrobe choices made by mourners at Lee Alexander McQueen's memorial service, which took place yesterday in London. The extraordinary scenes outside St Paul's cathedral simply reflected the glamour and passion of McQueen's unique talent.

A visibly upset Sarah Jessica Parker, Naomi Campbell and Daphne Guinness, all pictured above, were among the celebrity guests who came to pay tribute to the design legend, who took his own life in February.

Giving a speech to the congregation at St. Paul's Cathedral at the memorial was Anna Wintour, who said: "As a child he loved nothing more than sitting on the roof top and watching birds fly by. His final collection was a battle between dark and light. His was an 18-year career of harnessing his dreams and demons."

While Bjork performed a rendition of Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday" dressed in an angel McQueen costume. Guests then exited the service to the sound of bagpipes playing the theme to Braveheart.
