matthew-williamson1.jpgMatthew Williamson's runway collection was everything you'd expect from the fun-loving designer, with a riot of colours and an array of intricately placed beads on draped fabric. Casting our eyes downwards, we noted that the shoes were high and solid-looking, with summery wooden soles used throughout. While most of the shoes were fairly plain, we loved the palm-leaf style engraving on the platforms pictured right, and there was variation in the form of dark, amber-coloured wood elsewhere.

But this was essentially a very functional range, reminding us a little of Stella McCartney's S/S 2010 colletion; a range that horrified in its simplicity a year ago but has gained a lot of credibility in intervening months. Love it or hate it, if you're looking for decorative and fussy styling, we suggest you look elsewhere...
