For those of us who feel the cold, there was no happier fashion revolution than the shift towards warm and comfortable winter footwear, exemplified by the likes of Ugg et. al. in recent years. But if you want to wear something a little more exclusive on your feet this winter, a boot with a stylish approach to cosiness, Mou is a brand to explore.

Mou, whose name is taken from the French for 'soft to the touch', make supremely comfortable shoes and boots lined with rich shearling. Founded 8 years ago on London's Portobello Road, they have a fabulous boho edge to them and have gained something of a cult status in the capital.

The range, which is available on Net-a-Porter and elsewhere, is built around the softest materials around, including calfskin leather, wool and goatskin, all of which evolved from an original design by founder Shelley Tichborne, who used to make shoes as gifts for her friends and family.

We particularly love the wool stitching around the edges of the boots, which gives them a quality handmade look that adds heaps of charm. This season, Mou have added a woollen, strappy biker boot (above right) that bring an edgier look to their signature styles. We also love the Mou Bandeau Boot (below) which is inspired by the form of a DNA double helix:
