Kate Middleton's wedding shoes: the contenders
What shoes will Kate be wearing on her big day? We're hearing strong rumours that the Royal Bride's dress will be designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen or possibly Sophie Cranston of Libélula. But frankly we're bored of all the dress talk now. What about the most important component of any bride's outfit: the footwear that will actually convey her along the aisle?
Bookmakers have named Aruna Seth as the clear favourite for creating a pair of wedding shoes for Kate, which does not surprise us here at Shoewawa. The Swarovski-embellished heels have been a favourite for well-heeled brides for the past few years, and it's hard not to fall for their sparkling charms. Also, they're British! Odds of Kate picking Aruna Seth have been calculated at 4/1, ahead of Louboutin (5/1) and Joseph Azagury (8/1)
If Kate wants to follow very literally in the footsteps of her late mother-in-law to be, she could pick Walter Steiger to design her a shoe. In fact, he already has: the famed designer has already submitted a sketch for Kate; a white, strappy sandal decorated with a precious stone and his signature hook heel. Diana was a huge Steiger fan and wore his shoes throughout her public life. Many big-name designers custom made shoes for Diana, which was probably lucky for the princess who took a seriously super-sized UK 11.
High street chic!
There have even been rumours that Kate will go for recessionista-chic after her sister Pippa was spotted purchasing a pair of shoes that looked suspiciously bridal at a branch of Dune. We're not particularly convinced by this theory, but it will be interesting to see at what engagement the £110 'Droplet' sandals make their appearance.
But whoever takes up the task of designing Kate's shoes, we can be pretty sure the pair will be one-of-a-kind, designed to fit the Princess-in-waiting's feet to perfection. And you can bet your life we'll be straining for a peek under that dress!
