royal-wedding-shoes.jpgWe've just been told that French Sole, the purveyor of elegant flatties, will be commemorating the Royal Wedding in its own special way with a pair of specially-designed ballet pumps, available to buy on 29th April only. The shoes feature a decorative crown motif with a special inscription inside the shoe that reads 'Catherine and William April 29th 2011.

Not being one for 'tat', I have to admit that this is the most stylish commemorative product I've seen as yet, and I have to approve of the subtle approach they've taken - no toothy-grinned photographs or cute messages here! The crown is simply a cool design feature that will not date - but that will no doubt gain in value as Kate and William's marriage progresses.

If you're a serious royalist and expect to be glued to the television or serving tea and scones at a street party on the day, don't worry: you can pre-order online or at the brand's Kings Road or Brook Street stores, but you'll pay a little extra for the shoes at £150. If you can wait for the day itself, they'll be available at the lower price of  £98 at the French Sole website.
