Viktor&Rolf: runway footwear S/S 12
Viktor&Rolf love a bit of drama and spectacle, and this season's catwalk show at Paris Fashion Week did not disappoint: models walked through gigantic sugary-pink skirts in fairytale full skirts covered in bows and ribbons, and the footwear was every bit as quirky.
Based around simple stiletto silhouettes, all of the footwear was a blank canvas for plenty of embellishment and fuss. The stitched pink and blue ruched ankle decoration was held together by thick black ribbon giving a bit of a boudoir look, while others were held together by flat fabric trips with more sophisticated-looking gemstones. All of the shoes had a metallic touch added somewhere, which picked up the dusty sheen of the rest of the show.
All in all, it was a fairytale performance with the shoes to match: there were some fabulous flourishes, particularly in the choice of fabrics with just enough shine, We don't think we'll be rushing out to buy any of these styles soon, but they certainly worked on the V&R runway!
