LFW: McQ catwalk show: the shoes
The McQ show was the hottest ticket in town at London Fashion Week last night, and there was much envy in the office towards those who managed to bag a seat. Fortunately some of our team did make it along to see the magic unfold, and we've been poring over the pictures of those dreamlike scenes, all set amid swirling autumn leaves and dramatic lighting. Cue some of the most stunning garments we've seen being walked down the runway all week...
But what of the shoes? Alexander McQueen's mainline label has been responsible for some of the most spectacular foowear out there in recent seasons, often stretching the definition of what can realistically be called "shoes". But this slightly more mainstream collection majored on exactly the sort of styles we've loved from the label since it launched: functional, stylish and solid shoes and boots that really make a statement.
The ultra-long boots with their tight lacing were an obvious draw, and these appeared in many of the ensembles: they looked incredible peeping out from flared skirts. But there were also some simply gorgeous shoes, which are set to inspire designs on the high street (we hope!) check out the court shoes pictured middle and bottom left: the brogue detailing adds heaps of character, while the wide straps at the ankle are an unashamed fetish reference that's pure McQueen.
