mesh-booties.pngDesigners are doing a lot of cool stuff with mesh at the moment, but Maison Martin Margiela have taken the look to another level with these rather wonderful semi-see-through booties. Looking a little like the iconic Yves Saint Laurent Cage shoes that were all the rage a few years ago, they offer a new type of transparency that's very much in keeping with fashion's current obsession with sheer fabrics and seeing through to what's inside.

But it isn't just the mesh body of these boots that's worth getting excited about: we're also positively mesmerised by that clear, completely spherical perspex heel. Rounded heels are another of fashion's footwear crushess just now, and it certainly makes this particular style work.

The boots are being sold by Net-a-Porter where they are £675 here. Part of their beauty is the fabric's ability to camouflage with whatever you are wearing underneath, so they can be worn as a semi-invisible style over black and other dark tones, or give more of a contrast over pale or neutral colours.
