carven_shoes.pngLinen is an eternal summer classic, but we really like what Carven have done to turn the perennial fabric into something that's 2012 through and through. Using a natural linen 'base' to create a stylish slingback, they've added colour and embellishment to bring the look out of the mother-of-the-bride wedding wardrobe into the realms of the fresh and fashion-forward.

There's a flash of bold daffodil-yellow at the heel, a generous black bow at the heel and best of all, a peony-pink toe cap created through the application of patent leather at the toe. What could be more effortlessly chic for spring? The shoes are £340 at Net-a-Porter, so if you want to treat yourself with a piece that will see you through the season in style, we cannot recommend these shoes enough: they'd be a great asset to those who have weddings, garden parties and other dressed-up events to attend in the warmer months, but who don't want to find their footwear in the more obvious places. Price points also aren't bad for such a premium range.

Carven have gone all-out with the strong colours and cheerful, feminine style flourishes this summer as well as embracing the season's obsession with graphic prints and photo-realistic styling. We also love the low-heeled slingbacks available in the collection, which are delightfully playful and fun: prices start at £285 for those who want to invest in this look.
