Gianvito-Rossi.pngResin is like the posher cousin of perspex in footwear at the moment: it's translucent, opulent and makes for a very beautiful heel that's a million miles from the 'stripper shoe' image we once all had of clear platforms, soles and heels. One of the most beautiful we've seen so far is by Gianvito Rossi, and it's available now at Brown's. Aren't they just to die for? The sheen of the amber resin just looks amazing contrasted against the matte, stone-coloured suede.

Being made from such premium materials the shoes are priced at £555 (available online here). But we think they'd be worth every penny if you wanted to splash out: the design and craftsmanship that's gone into making the shoes cannot be denied, and the twisted design of the ankle straps is quite delightful, too.

The Italian-made shoes also look quite glorious from behind, as is increasingly important for shoes these days: every pair is different due to the naturally-occurring imperfections in its components. We'd love to wear these sandals along with a peachy-pink ensemble for daywear or lengthy black maxi with for the evening - dripping with gold accessories. They're perfect for summer 2012 on so many levels and the very height of summer chic.  along

If you love these but can't afford to spend over £500 on the privilege of wearing them, may we recommend a mosey around New Look, where there are currently some shoes along similar design lines for under £30 with amber-coloured perspex heels.
