Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (or K-Middy, as she's more affectionately known) had mostly stayed off our shoegazing radar recently, due to her preference for rather tame-looking footwear. She's had her moments of course: let's not forget those lovely Prada heels she wore in Canada) but today she's impressed us all by stepping out in a pair of gorgeous Rupert Sanderson Malone heels in pale blue suede.
Picking up on one of spring/summer 2012's biggest trends, the powder blue matches Kate's coat here beautifully, and the daffodil's she's wearing to commemorate St David's Day complete the fresh, spring-like look. The pictures were taken this morning, as Kate and her Majesty the Queen stepped out in the March sunshine following a Royal visit to Fortnum & Mason in London.
Next week, the Duchess will be chosing from a selection of designs by students at DeMontford University who have been tasked with creating a special shoe that's fit for a future queen: the sketch picked out by Kate will be made into real shoes that she can wear. Some of the designs are available to view online here.
