First Look: Madonna's new footwear line
What with the wild award show appearances, the singing, the movie directing and now the fashion designing, we're not entirely sure how Madonna does it. But her new Truth or Dare clothing line is gaining pace, and now she's added shoe design to her list of CV skills, to boot!
Madonna's shoe range, being produced by ALDO, is still in its infancy but we've had a look at a few pieces from it today: the black and gold heels pictured above. According to Footwear News, there will be over 60 styles in the full range including flats, heels and boots, which will range in price from $89 to $349 (£56 - £223 approx). It comes hot on the heels of the brand's successful ALDO Rise Collection - featuring pieces by Preen and Mark Fast - and of major design collaborations with the likes of Christian Cota. It is, however, the first time that ALDO has worked in this capacity with a celeb.
Initial thoughts on this dark, Gothic and very vampish collection of shoes is that they are very much Madge of a certain era: this is channeling the days of her notorious Sex book of the 1990s: the cone bras, masked costumes and unashamed sexuality that Madonna stood for as an artist for so long. There is a subtle nod to the 1970s boho glamour that's so huge at the moment, particularly in the colour scheme and t-bar of the shoe pictured furthers right, but mostly this is Madonna to the core.
