No shoes for a whole day? Ordinarily, the answer to that question would be a horrified 'noooooo'! But when one of our favourite brands asks us to go barefoot for just one day with a fantastic cause in mind, we wouldn't dream of refusing. TOMS is the brand in question, and their One Day Without Shoes event is coming up on Tuesday, 10th April. So what's it all about?

The idea of One Day Without Shoes came about as a way to call attention to the need for shoes around the world, particularly for children living in poverty around the world whose parents can't afford proper footwear, exposing them to injury and disease every day. TOMS was founded on the premise that with every pair of shoes someone purchases, a pair of new shoes will be given to a child in need: One for Oneā„¢.

TOMS' founder and chief shoe giver Blake Mycoskie said, "This movement is about raising awareness and asking people to do something - anything - without shoes. We are so eager to see the world's participation this year. So, do what you normally do - just without shoes and help start the conversation."

If you're based in London, you may want to check out a special event that TOMS are holding down at the Southbank Centre on 10th April to celebrate One Day Without Shoes. It's a day of music, food, art & crafts and other barefoot happenings - including lots of great 'one for one' offers.

The event will offer something for all ages, from Kids Hour with fun creative sessions at 2pm to Happy Hour at 6pm - where those that take their shoes off and attend barefoot at 6pm will be able to take advantage of free coffee, burritos, flowers and other treats while enjoying live music by Matthew and The Atlas. The event will finish with a barefoot walk towards The London Eye. The Shoewawa team will be there to forgo our love of shoes in support of this excellent cause, and will be taking snaps along the way.
