marc jacobs buckle shoes.jpgWhen Marc Jacobs debuted his buckled loafers back at New York Fashion week in the spring, they came as a bit of a shock to many onlookers, still accustomed to higher heeled and more 'feminine' shoes on the catwalk. But since then we've seen the rise and ultimate acceptance of flatforms and other 'masculine' looking styles, while brogues were already two-a-penny. Footwear's last taboo has been broken, and flat shoes are everywhere.

But what do YOU make of these 'larger than life', strangely old-fashioned looking shoes? I'm not sure. I think they just remind me a little too much of the shoes worn by characters in oldy worldy children's books or on stage in a pantomine, and however hot that may be, it's not a look I'm personally going to covet. But they did look amazing coming down the catwalk rendered in foily metallic leathers and worn with thick, chunky socks.

Over to you readers: do you like this shoe? It's yours for £875 over at Net-a-Porter if you do.
