Topshop's design geniuses have been getting a bit creative with the ubiquitous Chelsea boot recently, and are producing some quite dazzling results that will appeal to those who find the traditional plain stretch boot just a little...dull. There's nothing boring about this highly embellished 'Avant' boot, which plays on the trend for elaborate design and opulence very nicely, while taking in the elasticated sides and low-cut elements of the familiar ankle bootie.

Priced at £120, this is a boot that will certainly make its presence known whether you wear it as part of a similarly ornate look with lots of flowing fabric, or with a streamlined pair of black skinny jeans. We love the way the heel has a triangular shape - giving it a bit more of a fashion appeal and looking a far cry from your average high street fare. And if the beading isn't quite your bag, the same silhouette is available decorated with a thoroughly futuristic studded finish:

These grey suede booties are a little cheaper at £70, and are made to the same twisted-up Chelsea boot mould as the black/beaded style. They also come in a black/orange colour way, and would be an even more everyday wearable wardrobe addition for A/W 2012.
