When Alexa Chung speaks (on issues of a fashion-related nature, at least) the world takes note, and her latest Twitter rant has focused on a long-suffering and perhaps rather too easy target: Ugg boots. More specifically, the sparkly sequinned version of the classic boot that tends to be particularly popular around Christmas.

It would seem that Ms. Chung is not a fan...

Alexa Chung Ugg.jpgBut she's certainly not the only one wishing to indulge in a little Ugg-bashing: backing up her friend DJ Lauren Laverne, Chung's Twitter tirade attacked not only the boots themselves, but the mentality and financial status of those who wear them...

After Laverne had kicked off the Ugg-bashing session by tweeting: Please tell me these don't exist and that it's all a dream.' Chung responded with 'I'm so sorry...People have too much time on their hands, Lauren. Too much time and too much money and too little self respect. Tsk.'

Laverne then went on to do something that has in other cases led to arrests on the social network, adding in a death threat to her online rant, saying: ''As you like, run clothes globally, I am assuming you are dealing with this '*Having the person who did this killed". Chung responded: 'They're on the hit list. Along with whoever brought back harem trousers.'

So what do you think about the anti-Ugg sentiment being expressed here - is this a case of pure snobbery or do the pair have a point about the more embellished variety of Ugg boot?
