MELISSA x KARL is here!
It's here, Karl Lagerfeld's Brazillian love child with plastic fantastic shoe-brand Melissa is here! Or love children that is, let us introduce you to Ginga, Glam, Melissima and our personal favourite, for obvious reasons, Incense. You're probably thinking these names are quite normal compared to the average celebrity baby, us too.
The collaboration includes 4 designs; 2 heels and 2 flats in a variety of colour ways including such detailing as Mary-Jane straps, edgy orbs, Brazilian stripes and adorable ice-cream cones. The shoes will be running for 2 years and launched globally, hitting Brazil in March and New York come April.
The shoes were launched live last night via Livestream in the heart of NYC's Soho at Galeria Melissa. The event was packed to the brim with beautiful visuals, Chanel-clad fashionistas, champagne-on-tap, jaw-droppingly handsome waiters and downtown arty types as Leigh Lezark took to the decks with her new blonde locks. Celebrity sightings included the likes of Carine Roitfeld and Karlie Kloss and looking around at the famous feet in the room, it was clear the whimsical, ice-cream coned Incense heels were a winner.
If you were too busy watching re-runs of Homeland, don't fret you can still catch the stream below..
Karl teamed up with ditzy model-of-the-moment and muse, Cara Delevingne to spice up the collaboration with her usual chic silliness for 17 eye-popping, soon-to-be-iconic photographs displayed around the gallery.
Mr Lagerfeld explained his reasons behind picking Cara from the pack as;
"I love Cara, she's great, she's got a very strong personality, maybe she's only 20 but with her eyes and the whole attitude of her body, and her freedom, and her wildness, there is no girl better for these kind of photos then Cara."
