FINSK teams up with Nokian handmade wellies
Here in the UK, our increasingly rain-soaked climate has led many of us to completely re-visit the way we look at wellies: no longer just the flappy old things we wear once at a festival then shove in a cupboard for the rest of the year caked in mud, these waterproof allies are now becoming an integral part of our wardrobe.
Fortunately, a select few designers saw this trend coming, and have started creating wellington boots that are as stylish as they are practical, and a new collaboration between iconic Finnish wellington brand Nokian and FINSK designer Julia Lungsten is set to launch here in the autumn with some highly desirable new styles:
The boots, which have a distinctive edge to them that recalls FINSK's innovative, experimental shoe designs, include wedge wellies with serrated rubber soles, short walking boots with brightly coloured laces, full-length wellies lined with warm sheepskin and classic tall wellies that can be made cosier with the addition of specially-designed socks.
All boots in the collection are handmade, just as boots from the Nokian brand always have been. A specialist in high-quality rubber footwear with a long heritage in working with natural rubber, the brand is best known for its soft, durable boots that fit like a glove to the feet - feeling a bit like a leather boot to wear. Boots in the FINSK collaboration retain these qualities with a definite Scandi-chic edge.
Here's some imagery from the FINSK instagram account showing the Nokian collaboration:
The boots will launch in the UK in time for the autumn/winter season.
