Sandal love at Young British Designers
The Young British Designers site is an endless source of shoe envy around here, and with kick-ass pieces like this regularly cropping up for sale there, it's easy to see why: deceptively simple but with just enough design flair to lend real character, this lilac mix 'Mila' sandal from Love Art, Wear Art is the epitome of effortless chic:
Designed by South African-born Nicole Le Grange, these perfect summer flatties are a mix of simple, classic elements with just a shot of crazy, eye-catching embellishment at the t-bar and front strap. I'm completely in love with the layered, fringed leather at the back of this shoe, which will create a beautiful finish to your holiday look.
Le Grange takes inspiration from her travels and Nigerian art, and aims to make her products a joy to wear, and to treasure: each pair comes with its own unique serial number on a tiny metal banner attached to the shoe. If you'd like to see more from Love Art, Wear Art, there's a small selection elsewhere on the site to have a look at. Considering the fact that each run consists of only 50 pairs, I think the prices are pretty reasonable: the Mila sandals are £180 and prices go up to around £180.
