Julian Hakes' groundbreaking Mojito shoe has been a monster hit here on Shoewawa since its launch, so we're really excited to learn that the distinctive shoe will soon be even easier on the feet. Making its debut at London Fashion Week, the new version of the Mojito looks much the same as the original style when worn - but a series of tweaks have been made to improve comfort and fit.
Here are two pieces from the S/S 2014 collection showing the new features:
To improve comfort, Hakes and his team have raised the toe ribbon slightly (that's the thinner strip that sits across the toe area) and given it more flex; additionally the underside of the arch and toe ribbon have been given extra padding for a softer and more snug fit. They have also changed the lining of the shoe from leather to a synthetic material with memory foam inserts - again this has increased the comfort of this revolutionary shoe.
It's been a fantastic week for Julian Hakes, who also scooped a Vogue Accessories Award last night in Milan. His shoes were recently featured on Project Runway in the US, and have caught the attention of Britney Spears - who is rumoured to be wearing a pair of Mojito shoes in her forthcoming video.
What a great outcome for a brand that's not afraid to throw out the rulebook!
Also appearing at Hakes' LFW stand were a few of the new shoeboot designs; a clever re-working of the Mojito with a snug inner section that adds another dimension of style and practicality.
