Kourtney Kardashian steps out in House of Holland tights

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for henryholland.jpgAs the temperature plummets, autumn has officially arrived. So, it's time to stock up on all those cold weather essentials: leather gloves (the brighter, the better), this super-cute A/wear leopard print muff , a Katy Perry-inspired beret and lots of tights.

Don't just head to M&S for your usual 40 deniers though. Take style-inspiration from Kourtney Kardashian who winterproofed one of her favourite summer dresses with a fun pair of House of Holland tights. She chose the 'Alphabetights' (above left), but we also love the 'Superstars' (brand ambassador, Jessie J's favourites - above right). Look out for limited edition styles landing this season too.

Pretty Polly Henry Holland tights, from £11, available at Thetightspot.com.

Are these the most expensive shoelaces ever?

shoelaces.jpgAnswer: probably.

Or at least we hope so because these 14-karat gold limited-edition handwoven shoelaces are apparently the world's first. And they cost $19,000. That's nearly £12,000 at today's exchange rate.

If you're unsure whether to part with enough cash to buy ten Chanel 2.5's - or 17,588 Cadbury's Freddos - Mr Kennedy (the designer of said shoelaces who is no relation to the ex-president as far as we know) promises to lace them for you anywhere in the world.

Oh, and don't worry if you can't quite stretch to £12,000, the silver version will only set you back £3k.

We'll have a pair of each.

Mr Kennedy's precious metal shoelaces are available at MrKennedy.com.

Nine West to launch perfume

nine west ad.jpgAlthough not the most obvious choice for a company who make very lovely shoes, Nine West have announced that they'll be launching their first fragrance, Love Fury, next year.

The perfume, which will rival Jimmy Choo's eponymous scent launched by Tamara Mellon earlier this year, features notes of rose, wood, citrus and amber and is set to hit the shelves in January 2012.

What's more exciting though is the Love Fury shoe that they're also working on as part of the launch. We've heard it'll be a pointy satin platform pump available in an array of colours. Best start saving...

What have our favourite bloggers been up to this week.

  • Sea of Shoes has done a rather good impression of a woodland fairy.
  • Shoeperwoman has got the giggles - or at least wants to, thanks to a new pair of Topshop heels!
  • ShoeTease has spoted a celeb wearing Brian Atwood heels. Can you guess which one?
  • Shoegal takes her outfit from cool and summary to warm and cosy.

Ugly shoe of the week: Designer disaster

uglyalex.jpgHear that strange muffled noise coming from our shoes? That's the sound of our feet crying.

Alexander Wang might be known for his outlandish designs, but these burgundy, braided monstrosities - with what can only be described as a leather 'sock' - are quite literally a step too far.

No wonder they're reduced by 65%. What's more worrying though is the limited sizing. There's only one reasonable explanation. Somebody out there has been so blinded by their ugliness that they had to use their credit card as a shield.

We're all for pushing the boundaries Alexander - just check out our love for McQueen's shoes without heels - but this shoe boot is a complete navajo nightmare. Sorry.

Alexander Wang Freja, was £620, now £217, Theoutnet.com.

Aldo 'McIntyde' platform pumps

aldo.jpgWhile we might be a little too old to spend our afternoons daydreaming about clicking our heels and ending up in Oz, Aldo's ah-mazing 'McIntyde' platform pumps have more than a little Dorothy about them. Maybe it's the retro-inspired styling, sequins, velvet trim and sweet bow. We are slightly glam obsessed after all.

They're also the perfect pre-party season purchase. Wear them in with ankle socks and cute dresses until the festivities start. Then pair with leather leggings or a simple LBD. if you needed another reason to skedaddle down to Aldo quick-sharp, the thick platform should prevent any aching at the end of the night.

New shoe obsession: Velvet loafers

loafs.jpgIt's not often that we fall for a practical shoe, but boyfriend-style velvet loafers are having a moment - and we approve.

As comfy as they are chic, these slipper-like flats sum up winter's masculine trend perfectly. Swap ballerinas for a printed or plain pair and team with jeans and an oversized blouse.

Or splash out and inject some colour in to your favourite LBD with a bright blue pair from Ralph Lauren. They're guaranteed to keep you smiling until spring.

Topshop Star embroidered slippers (top), £20 at Topshop
Pretty Ballerinas (middle), around £150 at Pretty Ballerinas
Ralph Lauren Quinly loafers (bottom), £475 at Net-a-Porter
